How to delay OS updates on Apple TV?
Administrators can delay Apple tvOS software updates using Hexnode’s OS Updates policy. This policy helps you manage new software updates in a controlled and convenient manner, ensuring seamless performance across the devices deployed in organizations. With this policy, the organizations can choose to delay the OS updates to prevent the users from initiating the update until a specified period is completed.
You can set the delay period for up to 90 days from the release date of the latest OS update. During the delayed OS update period, the software updates (if any) will not be readily available for installation on the device.
Delay software updates for your tvOS devices by following the below steps:
- Navigate to the Policies tab in your Hexnode portal.
- Choose an existing policy or create a New Policy to create a new configuration.
- Name the policy if you are creating a new one.
- Click on OS Updates under Apple TV.
- Select the Configure option and click on Delay software update.
- Set the number of days the OS update must be delayed. You can set the delay duration in the range of 1-90 days.
- Navigate to Policy Targets and click on + Add Devices.
- Select the devices with which the policy needs to be associated.
- Click OK and Save.
What happens at the device end?
Once the policy is associated, users cannot manually update the OS from the device by navigating to Settings > System > Software Updates > Update Software. Even if the user attempts to initiate a software update, they might encounter a prompt stating, “Your Apple TV is up to date.“.
