A complete walk-through of Hexnode UEM app for iOS
The Hexnode UEM app synchronizes communication between the Hexnode UEM server and the devices. Upon enrollment to Hexnode UEM, the app will get installed on the devices. It will then sync with the Hexnode UEM portal, allowing the user to view device details, compliance information, and directly access messages sent via the Hexnode UEM console, etc., from the device.
This document helps end users navigate through the Hexnode UEM app for iOS devices. Here’s a complete walk-through of functionalities, options, configurations and information that the app encompasses.
Overview
The navigation bar at the bottom of the app’s home screen consists of the following sections:
- Home
- Catalog
- Remote View
- Messages
- Map
Home
Home is the default view when you open the Hexnode UEM app for iOS devices. It contains important information about the enrolled device and its compliance status.
Information Displayed
- Username: Displays the name of the user enrolled in Hexnode UEM.
- Email ID: Shows the email address associated with the user.
- Last Sync Date and Time: Indicates the last time the device synced with the Hexnode UEM server.
- Compliance Status: Displays whether the device is compliant with the list of requirements enforced by the administrator from Hexnode UEM.
Sub Section
Device Info
The Device Info page presents the device’s hardware, software, network, and security-related information fetched by Hexnode. This includes:
- Device Name: The name given to the device.
- Model Name: The name of the device’s model.
- Model Identifier: The unique identifier of the iPhone or iPad model.
- OS Version: The version of the operating system installed on the device.
- IMEI: The International Mobile Equipment Identity (IMEI) is a unique number that identifies a mobile device.
- Storage: The amount of storage available on the device.
- Device ID: A unique identifier for the device.
- Server URL: The URL of the Hexnode UEM server in which the device is enrolled.
- Location Tracking: Indicates whether location tracking is enabled on the device.
- Supervised: Indicates whether the device is supervised or not.
- Enrolled Time: The date and time when the device were enrolled in the Hexnode UEM.
- Last Reported Time: The date and time when the device last reported its status to the Hexnode UEM.
- Ownership: Indicates whether the device is corporate-owned or personal-owned.
Compliance Info
Compliance settings refer to the set of company requirements that the users and devices must meet to help protect organizational data. The Compliance Info provides details on the device’s compliance with each of these criteria set by the administrator. This includes:
- Compliant: Indicates whether the device is compliant with all the organization’s requirements. Hexnode UEM marks the device as non-compliant if it fails to satisfy any selected requirements under Compliance Settings.
- Active: It shows the activity status of the device, i.e., whether the device is active or not.
- Password Compliant: This indicates whether the device password adheres to the organization’s password requirement. If the device has no password set or does not meet the specified password requirements as per the Password policy, it will be marked as non-compliant.
- Number of Missing Apps: The number of Required Apps that are not installed on the device.
- Number of Blocklisted Apps: The number of apps that are blocklisted by the organization and are installed on the device.
Sync devices Manually
Users can manually initiate a sync in the Hexnode UEM app by dragging down from the Home page. This action updates the Hexnode UEM portal with the latest device and network-related information. It also helps ensure that any actions pending are executed on the device.
Enable Kiosk
Once a web app kiosk has been associated with a device which is configured with Hexnode Browser Lite, the kiosk mode can be disabled either from the Hexnode UEM portal or directly from the device. However, the user can still re-enable kiosk mode. This can be done by simply tapping the Enable Kiosk button on the Hexnode UEM app’s Home tab.
Catalog
The catalog of apps that have been distributed to iOS devices via the App Catalog policy in Hexnode UEM will be listed in this tab. Users can initiate the installation process by clicking the desired app on their devices.
Users can search for apps by name and filter them based on different categories.
Remote View
Remote View allows users to grant permission to start broadcasting their iOS device screen when the administrator initiates Remote View from the Hexnode UEM console.
An administrator can initiate Remote View from the Device Summary tab of the desired iOS device in the Hexnode UEM Portal. A notification will appear on the device indicating that a remote session has been initiated. Once the notification appears, the user can open the Hexnode UEM app, select the Remote View tab from the bottom navigation bar, and start the screen broadcast by tapping Start Remote and then Start Broadcast.
Messages
An administrator can send broadcast messages to users iOS devices from the Hexnode UEM portal using the Broadcast Message remote action. These messages appear as notifications and are saved in the Messages tab of the Hexnode UEM app for iOS devices.
Users can manage messages by pressing and holding a specific message to Star, Pin, or Delete it.
They can also search messages by name or content and even filter them based on Read, Unread, and Starred status.
Map
The Map tab shows the exact location of the device, and users will also be able to copy the location.
Other Icons
Location Icon
This icon, located at the top right corner of the Hexnode UEM app, enables users to add location notes from enrolled iOS devices. Administrators can view these notes directly from the Hexnode UEM console by navigating to the Reports tab, selecting Location Reports, and then Location History.

This icon, located at the top right corner of the Hexnode UEM app, provides access to additional options:

App Logs
Application logs are structured records of events and activities generated by applications. These logs provide valuable insights into the performance, behavior, and errors encountered by the application during its operation.
It includes two options:
Send App Logs: This option allows users to send Hexnode app logs directly to the Hexnode UEM console. Administrators can view the Hexnode app logs for the iOS device from the Logs section on the Device Summary page.
Download App Logs: This option allows users to download Hexnode app logs directly from the Hexnode UEM app to their iOS device.
Reinstalling MDM Profile
If a device fails to check in to the Hexnode UEM portal for unknown reasons, users can reinstall the MDM/UEM profile directly from the device to re-establish communication with the server. To accomplish this, users can download the profile by selecting the “Reinstall MDM Profile” option from the Hexnode UEM app and navigating to Settings > General > VPN & Device Management on the device. From there, they can select the downloaded profile and reinstall it.
Other
Privacy Policy: Provides information on how user data is collected, used, and protected.
EULA (End User License Agreement): Displays the terms and conditions for using the Hexnode UEM app for iOS devices.
