Enable remote view on Linux devices from Hexnode UEM
Hexnode UEM’s Remote View and Remote Control features simplify the remote management of Linux devices. With Remote View, administrators can connect to a device’s screen, gaining immediate insight into its activities to diagnose issues and identify incidents. For direct intervention, the Remote Control feature provides full access to the device, enabling administrators to troubleshoot errors remotely without needing physical access.
Configuring Remote View and Control settings in Hexnode UEM console
To enable Remote View and Remote Control, first ensure that the necessary settings are configured within the Hexnode console.
- Login to your Hexnode UEM portal.
- Navigate to Admin > General Settings.
- Check the options Enable Remote View and Enable Remote Control under the Remote View & Control Settings section.
- Click Save.
Enabling Remote View on Linux devices
To initiate Remote View on your Linux devices:
- Login to your Hexnode UEM portal.
- Navigate to Manage > Devices.
- Select the desired device from the list of enrolled Linux devices. This opens the Device Summary page.
- Under the Remote View section, click on Start Session.
- The user will be prompted on their device to grant permission for screen sharing.
- Users can share the entire screen or a specific application’s screen.
- Once an option is selected, click Share to start the Remote View.
- Use the Stop or Restart button in the Remote View section to end or restart the session, respectively. To expand the Remote View to full screen, click the Maximize button.
Enabling Remote Control on Linux devices
- Login to your Hexnode UEM portal.
- Navigate to Manage > Devices.
- Select the desired device from the list of enrolled Linux devices. This opens the Device Summary page.
- Under the Remote View section, click on Start Session.
- Once the Remote View session is initiated and permission is granted on the device, the Request Control option will appear in the Remote View section.
- Click on Request Control.
- The user will receive a permission prompt on their device and must click Accept to grant access.
- If the request is declined, a confirmation pop-up will appear to confirm the action.
- You can terminate the remote control session by clicking on the Stop Remote Control option.
