Logging In to Hexnode UEM Console
Hexnode UEM helps organizations across industries and sizes to remotely manage and monitor their device fleet, all from within a centralized management console.
You can access the Hexnode UEM portal after signing up for a 14-day free trial.
This documentation walks you through the steps to log in to your Hexnode UEM portal and configure various login settings associated with it.
How to Log In?
To access the Hexnode UEM portal, you need the Portal Name, Username and Password, all of which you would have created during the signup process. The person who signs up with Hexnode UEM is assigned the role of a Super Admin. For a Super Admin to log in to the portal initially:
- Open a web browser and enter the Portal Name to be redirected to Hexnode’s sign-in page. It will be of the format: https://yourportalname.hexnodemdm.com
- Enter the Username and Password.
- Click Login.
The Super Admin can then create other technicians with different roles to manage the Hexnode UEM portal. When a technician is created, an account activation link will be sent to their email address to set up their account. A technician can then log in to the portal using the steps mentioned above.
In case you don’t remember the password, click on the Forgot Password link and enter the email address associated with the technician’s account. A password reset link with a 24-hour validity will be sent to the provided email address.
Hexnode technicians can also log in to the Hexnode portal using Google, Microsoft or Okta credentials if SSO login settings have been configured from the portal. On setting up SSO login for the technicians, the login page will look like this:
Two Factor Authentication Login
Two Factor Authentication can be enabled from the portal to add an extra layer of security when logging in. If enabled, an additional step to enter a verification code will be added to the login process.
There are two types of 2FA authentication:
- Time-based OTP via Email/Text Message.
- Verification code generated by Google Authenticator or Microsoft Authenticator.
You can mandate the requirement of this code:
- Every time while logging in.
- Every 7 days.
- Every 30 days.
Portal Session Timeouts
Hexnode technicians will be logged out from the portal in the following scenarios:
- A technician logs in to the portal when already logged in from a different browser or device. Hexnode UEM allows the technician to log in to the portal only from a single device or browser at a time.
- The inactivity period has elapsed. Technicians can set the time period after which they will be logged out from the portal. You will be automatically logged out from the portal after 1 hour if this setting is not configured.
- The current Username/Email of the technician is changed.
- The SSO login via which the technician has logged in is disabled, revoked or reset.
- The technician is deleted/deactivated by an Admin or the Super Admin.
- The technician changes his own password.
- Admin/Super Admin enables two-factor authentication for the technician’s account.
- An Admin/Super Admin changes the role of the technician.
Configure Login Settings
Hexnode technicians can configure their login settings by clicking the profile icon on the top-right corner of the portal and choosing My Profile.
The following login settings can be configured:
- Username/Email — The username should match the user’s email address if SSO is enabled for the technician.
- Password — The password required to sign in to the portal can be changed by clicking the Change Password link.
- CAPTCHA — Configure the number of failed login attempts after which CAPTCHA should be enabled on the sign-in page. You can choose any value between 1 and 10.
- SSO Login — SSO login via Google, Microsoft and Okta can be configured if already enabled under Global SSO Login Settings. For SSO login through Okta, the Okta domain that houses the technician should be integrated with Hexnode.
- Two-Factor Authentication — You can enable 2FA or change the associated settings if already enabled.
- Logout Automatically — Choose the time period after which the technician should automatically be logged out from the portal.
Additionally, technicians can also configure other account info such as First Name, Last Name, Phone, etc. Global SSO and CAPTCHA settings configured from Admin > Technicians and Roles apply to all the technicians globally.
The Super Admin and other Admins can configure the login settings associated with other technicians and deactivate/activate a technician from the portal.
To change the login settings of other technicians:
- Navigate to the Admin tab > Technicians and Roles.
- Click on the meatballs menu icon associated with the technician you want to edit.
- Tap Edit Technician.
- Change the required settings and click Save.
To change the Password of a technician:
- Navigate to the Admin tab > Technicians and Roles.
- Click on the meatballs menu icon associated with the technician you want to edit.
- Tap Reset Password and click on Proceed.
A password reset email link will be sent to the technician. The technician will be blocked from signing in to the portal until a new password is set up using the email link.
