How to configure Point Mobile devices with OEMConfig?
This article will help you configure Point Mobile devices with OEMConfig via Hexnode UEM.
Some original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) may develop OEMConfig apps that are capable of configuring and managing device-wide settings on their respective OEM devices. Point Mobile is one such device manufacturer that offers a full range of rugged handheld devices, payment devices, mobile computers, and more. Its OEMConfig app enables administrators to establish granular controls over Point Mobile Android devices. But, in order to configure these controls, admins must make use of a Unified Endpoint Management (UEM) platform such as Hexnode.
Hexnode provides a single centralized console to manage and configure Point Mobile devices using the Point Mobile OEMconfig app. Its intuitive and crisp UI makes Point Mobile device management a breeze.
Add OEMConfig app to Hexnode app inventory
OEMConfig apps are available in Managed Google Play Store. In order to configure the app, it first needs to be approved and added to the app inventory. For approving and adding apps:
- Navigate to the Apps tab.
- Click on the +Add Apps button and select Managed Google Apps from the drop-down list.
- Select the Point Mobile OEMconfig app to be approved from the Collaboration section. (Optional) You can also search for the required OEMConfig app by making use of the search button.
- Click on Approve.
- Another popup comes showing the permissions required by the app. Go through it and click Approve to finalize.
- You will be taken to the Approval Settings page. Here you have to choose the method by which you would like to handle new app permission requests. You can choose from:
- Keep approved when app requests new permissions: Select this option to enable automatic reapproval. This ensures that the app is reapproved regardless of the new permissions being requested.
- Revoke app approval when this app requests new permissions: Remove the app from the store until it is reapproved when the app requests new permissions.
- Go to the Notifications tab. Here you can add email addresses to subscribe for email notifications when the apps you have approved request new permissions. Enter the email address and click on Add. You can add as many subscribers as you need. Click Save.
Add OEMConfig app to the device
Once the app is added to the inventory, it needs to be pushed to the device. This can be done either by using Mandatory App Policy or through Install Application action.
