Unable to access whitelisted app on MacSolved

We whitelisted few apps including ‘Grammarly Desktop’ on our Mac but when the user tried to install Grammarly using the installer an error message was displayed: “You don’t have permission to use the application “Grammarly Desktop“.  Restarting the device didn’t seem to work.

Thank you for reaching out on Hexnode Connect, @yara.

It might be an issue with the difference in the app installation paths for the Grammarly Desktop and Grammarly Installer apps.

We’d need to investigate this thoroughly to provide a definite solution regarding the reported issue.

Will keep you posted. Do reach out if you’ve any other queries.

Have a great day!

Also noticed that the firefox app could be opened after allowing once on the device end even though it was NOT added to the whitelist policy. Confused about how that worked.

@yara When the user tries to launch a non-whitelisted app on the device, a restriction pop-up (“You do not have permission to use the application”) will be displayed. However, the user can access the app by tapping ‘Allow Once’ and entering the admin credentials. The restriction pop-up will appear again when the app is re-launched.

Hope this clarifies any confusion. Do reach out if you’ve further queries.

Cheers!
