I’ve come to realize that any script with Test-Path in any Powershell Script causes an “Access Denied” error when pushed through Hexnode. The script works exceedingly well when I run it locally as an administrator. But when I run it with Hexnode it consistently gives me an Access Denied error. I’m not 100% sure how pushing scripts work, I assume that the Hexnode-RMM profile is the administrative profile that Hexnode uses to run the scripts and it just isn’t making much sense.
Here’s the script I’m using:
# Specify the root path where you want to create the folders
$rootPath = “G:\My Drive”
# List of folder names to create
$folderNames = @(“Desktop”, “Downloads”, “Documents”, “Videos”, “Pictures”)
foreach ($folderName in $folderNames) {
# Concatenate the root path and folder name
$newFolderPath = Join-Path -Path $rootPath -ChildPath $folderName
# Check if the folder already exists
if (-not (Test-Path $newFolderPath)) {
# Create the folder if it doesn’t exist
New-Item -ItemType Directory -Path $newFolderPath -Force
Write-Host “Folder ‘$folderName’ created successfully at $newFolderPath”
} else {
Write-Host “Folder ‘$folderName’ already exists at $newFolderPath”
}
}

I want to change the path of the shell folders indicated here (I’ve tried editing the registry but it’s just not reliable at all for some reason, no I don’t have an AD domain so that’s not an option either, and I need to push it to 100+ devices) to a path on a virtual drive. Again, running this script as an admin locally works flawlessly, running through hexnode gives me problems.
The script is supposed to create a set of folders in the virtual drive, create a function that defines all the shell folders, then uses the function to perform the move.
