Stop apps from closing – AndroidSolved

Is it possible to setup in a policy to stop applications from closing and if a user attempts to close the application it will only minimise and continue to run in the background.

This is linked towards a Transport Management System that requires an application to stay open for job tracking purposes but other applications still need to be used on the device.

Hi @Daniel-Woods. Thanks for reaching out on Hexnode Connect!

If it suits your requirement, you can lock down the device in multi-app kiosk mode to prevent users from completely closing the kiosk applications added to the device. A device locked down in kiosk mode will prevent the users from accessing the recent apps button from the navigation bar by default, thus preventing them from closing any application.

In case you’ve added the Settings app to the multi-app kiosk policy, you can uncheck the ‘Control apps’ option under Policies > Android > Advanced Restrictions > Allow App Settings to prevent the user from force-stopping any application from the application settings. However, please note that unchecking this option will prevent the users from modifying any application settings such as uninstalling apps, disabling apps, clearing app data and cache and so on.

I hope this resolves your query. Feel free to reach out if you need any further clarification.

Cheers!
