On Hexnode, it shows Shared iPad is enabled for Apple School Manager. Can we configure Shared iPad for our devices with ABM and DEP enrollment?

Is it possible to add or remove a specific user (Managed Apple ID) from the shared iPad with Hexnode? And if it is, how do I do that?
I don’t think you can do that.
Just curious, is shared devices only applicable to iPads (not iPhones)?
And we can add multiple users through Family Sharing right? what is the difference …
Well, the name Shared iPad says it. It is only for iPad.
As for Family Sharing, you cannot add multiple users with Family Sharing, it is a feature to share subscriptions to Apple services among Family members. The concept is completely different, and it is not something to do with the Apple School Manager or Apple business manager.
@arden, with Shared iPad, enabled, you may share a single iPad among multiple users. This can be done by creating multiple Managed IDs (created through ABM/ASM) linked to specific users. The features you get with Shared iPads in general are –
1. Each user will have a separate user profile and personalized experience while using the iPad.
2. When a user signs in with their Managed ID, the corresponding files, apps and settings linked to the user will be automatically downloaded on the device.
3. Each user will have a separate storage partition on the device.
4. Content caching to enable local caching, automatic iCloud sync and quick user personalization on the next sign in.
To enable Shared iPad for your device, configure a DEP profile from Admin > Apple Business/School Manager > Apple DEP > DEP Configuration Profiles > Configure DEP Profile. Check Enable Supervision and Allow Shared Devices, configure the rest of the profile as required. When you deploy this profile while enrolling your device, the Shared iPad feature will be configured automatically.

Hi d@rian, starting iPadOS 13.4, you can use Shared iPad also with ABM. To prepare a Shared iPad for Business, the device must have at least 32 GB of storage and be supervised. The following device models are supported –
● iPad Pro
● iPad (5th generation or later)
● iPad Air 2 (or later)
● iPad mini (4th generation or later)
If your device satisfies the above requirements, you may prepare your device as Shared iPad with Hexnode. Check the Allow Shared Devices option to prepare the device as Shared iPad.
Also, don’t forget to check Enable Supervision while configuring the profile.
Cheers!

thanks for the answer @zach
any limit to the number of users you can add on a Shared iPad?
@Arden, there is no limit to the number of users you may add on a device as such but there can be implied restrictions based on your device storage capacity. Apple has set the following conditions for setting up user spaces on Shared iPad –
● Devices with a storage capacity of 32 GB – Apart from the storage consumed by system data, general apps and media, the storage can be divided among the managed users with a minimum of 1 GB allocated to each user.
● Devices with a storage capacity of 64 GB or higher – Apart from the storage consumed by system data, general apps and media, the storage can be divided among the managed users with a minimum of 2 GB allocated to each user.
However, apart from this, you may set up temporary sessions for users on the iPad, where the user data is removed as soon as they sign out of the iPad.
Cheers!
