Restrict contact sharing from iOS devicesSolved

Hello everyone,

We have quite a few iOS devices and are wondering if it’s possible to prevent users from sharing company contact information with unmanaged apps. Some devices also have personal apps installed, so we want to ensure that company-owned contacts are restricted from being accessed or shared by those apps. At the same time, users should still be able to share their personal contacts if needed. I was wondering if there is any way to implement such restrictions?

Hey @yu-yan,

Thank you for reaching out to us. Hexnode provides a feature that controls the flow of data, including contact information, between managed and unmanaged apps. Follow the steps below to configure the policy:

  1. Login to your Hexnode UEM portal.
  2. Navigate to the Policies tab.
  3. Click on New Policy to create a new one or click on any policy to edit an existing one. Enter the Policy Name and Description in the provided fields.
  4. Go to iOS > Hexnode Business Container > Business Container.
  5. By default, the options “Managed apps can write to Unmanaged Contact Accounts” and “Unmanaged apps can read from Managed Contact Accounts” are unchecked. This prevents users from sharing contact information from managed apps to unmanaged ones.

For more information, please refer to the help documentation on setting up a business container on iOS devices.

Additionally, if you want to set this up using a configuration profile, check out this help documentation on configuring Apple’s Managed Open In settings.

Feel free to reach out with any questions on Hexnode Connect.

Cheers,
