Hi!

Hello @deborah! Thank you for reaching out to us.
The UDID, or Unique Device Identifier, is an important component in Hexnode’s device management services. We use UDID for the accurate tracking and monitoring of all enrolled devices. Also, we use UDID in app deployment to target specific apps or app configurations on devices.
Great! Thank you for the insightful explanation.
I’ve noticed that the UDID of one of my Android devices changed in the portal after a factory reset. Could you clarify why this occurred?
Certainly, @deborah.
When it comes to Apple devices, the UDID is a distinctive sequence of 24 alphanumeric characters assigned to each device. On the other hand, the identifier used for Android devices is a 64-bit number, which can be up to 16 characters long and is generated randomly during the device’s initial setup. Unlike Apple’s UDID, Android’s unique identifier gets reset during a device reset.
I hope this helps! Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any further questions.
Best Regards,
Ben
