Hi community, due to the recent spike in cybercrimes, I’m considering taking additional measures of protection by preventing users on iOS devices from clicking on hyperlinks received in emails as it could potentially redirect to insecure websites. Is there any way of implementing this security feature through the Hexnode portal?

Hi @skylar-a , we’re happy to inform you that this functionality is available in Hexnode UEM. By using the Hexnode Email app for iOS, you can easily deploy a restriction that prevents users from being redirected to external webpages when clicking on links received in emails. Here’s how you can do it:
- Navigate to Policies, select Hexnode Email under Hexnode Business Container in iOS and click Configure.
- Click on +Add more. Then enter the Account name and Email Address (Email Address field also supports the use of the %email% wildcard).
- Select the Authentication type under Outgoing Email.
- Configure the options under Account Settings based on your requirements. The option Open web links in Hexnode Email app is disabled by default, preventing users from being redirected to webpages when they click on links.
- Then click on Add.
- Go to Policy Targets and click +Add devices to choose the specific devices for this policy. You can also associate it with device groups, users, user groups, or domains.
- Finally, click on Save to apply the policy.

Should the hexnode email app be installed on the devices manually or will it be pushed along with the policy? Also by clicking on the weblink will the user get directed to the web browser where the site will be shown as blocked?
Yes, you’ll need to have the Hexnode Email app installed on the devices before proceeding with the steps mentioned above. The user will not be re-directed to the web browser, instead a toast message will be displayed in the email app itself stating that the action has been disabled. Here is an example of how it would like on the user side:
