Power on kiosk devices when pluggedSolved

Hello, we have a few Android kiosk tablets that display ads in the shop. Users are unable to access these devices since they are kept inside a display cabinet. Chargers are already attached to them. However, the power supply is not always on. If the devices are powered off, can we turn devices on by switching on the power supply? Usually, they show the battery percentage and don’t turn on. Please help.

Hi @linkoln,

Thanks for reaching out to us.

Yes, you can automatically power on switched-off kiosk devices when they are connected to a charger using Hexnode. This feature is available on Samsung Knox 2.6+ devices. And, it works only if the Knox Platform for Enterprise (KPE) key is associated with the devices. Follow the steps below.

  1. Go to Policies > Android > Advanced Restrictions > Allow Settings on the Hexnode portal.
  2. Check the option ‘Automatically power on a device when power cable is connected’.
  3. Associate the policy with the required devices.

The switched-off devices will now automatically boot up when the power source is turned on. Please make sure that you apply the policy when the devices are powered on because the policy will not reach the devices if they are switched off.

Hope this answers your query.

Cheers!
