Hey, Thanks for reaching out to us.

Yes, open enrollment is one of the fastest and easiest enrollment methods. The admin will have to provide the users with an enrollment URL and the users can enroll the devices using this URL alone.
The enrollment URL will be of the form https://portalname.hexnodemdm.com/enroll/

The method of enrollment is different for different OS platforms:

iOS– Enter the enrollment URL in Safari browser and you will be taken to the enrollment screen.

macOS– Open the Safari browser and enter the enrollment URL just like in the case of iOS devices.

Android– Install the Hexnode MDM app on the device and enter the portal name in the app. Grant the required permissions and the device will be enrolled.

Windows PC 8.1, 10– Set up the workplace account with your enrollment URL. The URL will look like https://portalname.hexnodemdm.com.

Windows Phone 8.1, 10– Set up a workplace account in settings with your enrollment URL, user email. The enrollment URL will look like https://portalname.hexnodemdm.com.

Cheers!

How is SMS enrollment different from this? Don’t they both use the URL to enroll devices? Don’t know which to choose.

Hi Cameron,

Thank you for reaching out to us.

The enrollment process is same when it comes to the respective different Operating Systems you wish to manage.

However, the method of passing on this information to the device which needs to be enrolled varies with these different methods.

While using an SMS enrollment, you shall be able to send an SMS from your Admin console to the target devices, asking them to enroll devices. The SMS will contain the enrollment URL, Hexnode server URL, username and password for enrollment.

This is mostly used in the case of managing BYOD devices, and also in the case of corporate owned devices if they are already deployed.

To setup SMS enrollment however, you must be subscribed to Hexnode’s supported SMS vendors which are listed below.

  • Twilio
  • Nexmo
  • Sinch
  • SMPP

You can learn more about SMS based enrollment from the below page.
