Hey everyone, I keep getting error messages when I try to update my Mac. My settings allow downloads and installations from the App Store and verified developers, so I’m not sure what’s blocking it. This is my personal Mac, not managed by anyone. Anyone else run into this or know how to fix it?

Hey! Any chance there’s a management profile on there? Sometimes, even personal Macs can end up with one. Where’d you get it from, by the way?
I actually bought it brand new online—no management profiles here, as far as I know. Just the standard setup.
Weird! But just in case, you might wanna double-check for any profiles. They can sometimes mess with updates. Here’s how to check, depending on your macOS:
- macOS 15 (Sequoia) and up: Go to System Settings → General → Device Management. If there are any profiles, they’ll be listed here.
- macOS 13 (Ventura): Go to System Settings → Privacy & Security, and scroll down to find Profiles. This section only appears if at least one profile is installed.
- macOS 12 (Monterey) and below: Check System Preferences → Profiles. This section also shows up only if a profile is installed.
If there’s a profile you don’t recognize, try removing it and see if that clears things up with the update!
Oh wow, I checked, and there is one profile in there!
Nice! Try getting rid of it and then give the update another shot. That might do it!
It worked! My Mac is finally updating. Thanks so much, everyone—really appreciate the help!
