we are searching for a mobile tracking method for the safety of our employees. I’ve been researching, but nothing that stands out too much.

We have some devices, both Android and iOS devices are included in these. The location history of these devices is to be known. We now are using basic azure/company portal but that only helps us with iOS device location. I looked at another MDM also, but there where displaying pinpoint location and not history.

Thanks for the reply.

Hexnode can help you track the location of enrolled iOS and Android devices. You can set a location update interval to decide how frequently the location data needs to be updated. Also, instantaneous location tracking can be done via remote actions. Check out our help doc on Location Tracking for more details.

The location history of the device will also be displayed on the Hexnode portal. To see the location history of a device, navigate to Manage-> Devices and click on the desired device. You will be directed to the device summary page, where you can see the most recent location of the device. By clicking on See History, you will be able to see the complete list of locations traversed by the device. You can also export it as a CSV file.

Cheers!

Hey, Thanks for reaching out to us.

Yes, Hexnode enables you to track the location of macOS devices running version 10.11 or higher. Please note that the Hexnode MDM app should be installed on the devices with the Location permission granted to the app.

  • Navigate to Policies-> General Settings-> Location Tracking and click Configure.
  • Select Enable Location Tracking and set the Location Update Interval.
  • Associate targets and save the policy.
  • Go to Manage-> Devices, select the device, click on Actions button and choose Scan Device Location.

To view the location of the device, navigate to Manage-> Devices and click on the desired device. The most recent location of the device will be displayed on the device summary page.

Please check out our help doc on location tracking for more info.

Cheers!

Hi Sterling,

Thanks for reaching out to us!

Yes, with Hexnode, the users of the mac would be able to send location from the Hexnode MDM agent to their Hexnode portal.

Kindly click on the Hexnode MDM app -> General Information -> Enrollment summary -> Send location to avail of this feature.

Check out the link to know more on how to configure the location for macOS devices: https://www.hexnode.com/mobile-device-management/help/how-to-configure-location-tracking-with-hexnode-mdm/

As per the current workflow, it would only be possible to broadcast messages from the Hexnode portal to the device end.

The flow of messages from the device to the portal is currently not supported.

Check out the link to know more on broadcasting messages from the portal to the device: https://www.hexnode.com/mobile-device-management/help/broadcast-messages-to-a-device-enrolled-in-hexnode-mdm/

Cheers!
