Issue with Activation LockSolved

Hello all

We had a client whose Apple devices were enrolled in Hexnode while he was here for a business conference. Upon his departure, we disenrolled his device. Recently, he contacted us because he was unable to wipe his device due to an Activation lock. I believe that when he was here, we logged into our business iCloud account on his device, which is causing this issue now. We cannot disclose our iCloud credentials to him. For confidential reasons, we cannot re-enroll the devices in Hexnode. Is there another way to remove the Activation lock remotely without accessing the device? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Thanks for reaching out to us. I just want to clarify a minor query. Are these Apple devices also enrolled in Apple Business Manager?

If yes, then the issue can be resolved by following these simple steps:

1. Go to Apple Business Manager and sign in to your account.

2. On the left panel, select ‘Devices’.

3. From the list of devices enrolled in your organization, select the aforementioned device.

4. You can see the status of the Activation Lock. In the top right corner, select the horizontal ellipses (three dots) and choose the option ‘Turn Off Activation Lock’.

5. Now, try wiping the device remotely using Apple Configurator.

6. Upon booting up, you should see that the Activation Lock has been cleared.

For further clarity, click here to learn about the device state support for turning off the Activation Lock.

Hope this helps. Feel free to contact us if you have any further queries.

Regards,

George
