We have some default apps like Messages, Notes, and other pre-installed apps that were not installed through Hexnode. The apps installed via Hexnode are receiving regular updates. However, we have restrictions on the App Store, so users cannot update the apps themselves. Because of this restriction or some other issue, these default apps are not getting updated. Since the users cannot update them, I’m wondering if there’s any solution for this.
How to update an app which is not managed?Solved

Hey @aitana , if you install any of the apps through Hexnode’s Required Apps policy for macOS devices, they will update automatically once a week. Check if you have a Required Apps policy associated with the device.
Yes, we installed some apps through Hexnode’s policy, and they are getting updates regularly. However, we also have a lot of devices with these apps that need to be updated, and it’s not feasible to uninstall each app on every device and reinstall it through the Required Apps policy. Is there any way Hexnode can update these unmanaged apps?
Thank you for reaching out. No worries, you can create a new Required apps policy and add the same apps you want to update on the devices. This will install the new updated version of the apps in place of the old ones. Follow these steps to install the apps,
- Login to your Hexnode UEM portal.
- Navigate to Policies -> New Policy. Assign a suitable name and description for the policy, or you can choose to continue with an existing policy.
- Choose macOS > App Management > Required Apps. Click Configure.
- Click +Add to either add an app or an app group from the local app repository.
- Choose the required apps from the list and click Done.
