Guys, we have a few Android devices where we want to send all types of regulations and other company policies. Although we have other ways to share this information, we want these files to stay in a specific folder on the device. Since most of our employees do not check their emails regularly, it’s hard for them to stay updated on company policies and compliance guidelines, especially when they are with customers.

If there is a possibility to send these files directly to the device, can I also send APK files? I want those APK files to be on the device but not installed. Can anyone suggest how to do this?

Hello @mo-chou ,

Thank you for reaching out. Hexnode provides a feature that allows organizations to distribute different types of content (including APK files) to all enrolled Android devices. Follow the steps below to distribute the files to the devices:

Step 1: Add content to your Hexnode UEM portal

  1. Login to your Hexnode UEM portal.
  2. Navigate to Content > My Files.
  3. Click on Add File(s). A popup arises displaying the entries for providing the file name and uploading the file.
  4. Provide a suitable name by filling in the File name entry. Click on the Choose File option to upload the file you want to send to the device.
  5. Then, click on Save. Uploaded files will be saved in the portal.

Step 2: Distribute the content with the Hexnode policy

  1. Login to your Hexnode UEM portal.
  2. Click on New Policy to create a new one or click on any policy to edit an existing one. Enter the Policy Name and Description in the provided fields.
  3. Go to Android > Customizations > File Management. Click Configure.
  4. Enter the location in the device where you want to send the uploaded file. (For example, /storage/emulated/0/Hexnode )
  5. Enter the file name that matches the name of the file uploaded to the portal.
  6. Click on Add.

For more information, please refer to the help documentation on distributing files to Android devices.

Happy testing,

Yes, you can create a new folder of your choice in the format /storage/emulated/0/Hexnode. Replace “Hexnode” with your preferred folder name.
