Hey, I’ve been trying to delete some apps on my iPad, but all I get is the option to remove them from the home screen, not actually delete them. I’ve been holding down the app icon until it wiggles, but no luck. How can I permanently get rid of these apps without any hassle?

Hey @verbnigge,
Yeah, I’ve had the same issue before! Some apps don’t give you the delete option because they’re either built-in apps or controlled by settings. First, check if there are any restrictions in place:
- Go to Settings > Screen Time > Content & Privacy Restrictions.
- Toggle on Content & Privacy Restrictions and then go to iTunes & App Store Purchases.
- Select Deleting Apps, make sure it is set to Allow.
Let me know if that helps!
Hello @verbnigge,
Thanks for your question. If the steps @monty shared don’t solve the issue, Hexnode offers a way to delete apps remotely. Here’s how to do it:
- Log in to your Hexnode UEM portal.
- Go to Manage and select the device under the Devices tab.
- Click on the Action menu and choose Uninstall Application.
- Select the app you want to uninstall, then click Done.
- Enter your password as the final step.
This should delete the app from the iPad. Feel free to reach out if you need more help!
Best regards,

Hey @verbnigge,
I’ve had a similar problem before. Some apps can be linked to a profile (like a profile), which might prevent you from deleting them. To check:
- Go to Settings > General > VPN & Device Management.
- If there’s a profile, removing it could allow app deletion. Please be aware that removing the profile will stop communication between the device and the MDM, so it’s best to try @elleanor_lane or @monty methods first.
If nothing else works, as a last resort, you can do a full device reset. This will wipe everything, including any apps that you can’t delete.
Good luck!
Thanks so much, everyone! I’ll try these out and see what works.
