Force GPS policy showing notification on Android 11Solved

Enrolled our devices on Android Enterprise Device Owner mode and configured a policy with a certain configuration as – ‘Force GPS to fetch location’ – Enabled.

Now it shows some notification on the system tray like – “Apps can access your location. Contact your IT admin to find out more.” When we remove the policy, this is fixed. Why is this coming? Anyone facing the same issue?

Hi @Bonnie, this restriction does not apply to Device Owner devices; the device has to be a Samsung Knox (Knox 1.0+), LG GATE, or Kyocera business phone. However, if associated, this is the expected behavior on Android 11 devices. When you push the configuration enabling ‘Force GPS to fetch location’, the device location gets turned on if the user already has it turned off. But the user may again turn off location tracking, i.e., there is no real-time enforcement of location tracking, but it will get turned on by Hexnode if found turned off on every scan while the policy is active. So, when location tracking is turned-on on the device, a notification such as you mentioned shows on the system tray.

Hope I was able to help you.
Cheers!
