Download and install OS updatesSolved

Hexnode offers a straightforward solution for updating multiple macOS devices simultaneously. You can either use the “Update OS” remote action or the “OS Update” policy.  
 
Update OS remote action: 

1. Log in to the Hexnode UEM console.  
2. Go to the Manage tab.  
3. Select the desired devices.  
4. Navigate to Actions > Update OS.  
5. Select the Download and Install option.  
6. Click on Update.  

OS Update policy: 

1. Log in to the Hexnode UEM portal.  
2. Go to Policies > New Policy. Assign a suitable name and description (optional) for the policy or choose an existing policy.  
3. Navigate to macOS > Security > OS Updates and click Configure.  
4. Choose your OS update settings as Download and Install.  
5. Associate the policy with the target devices.  
6. Click on Save. 

This will download the updates and start the installation immediately. If the update is already downloaded on the device, the installation will begin right away.

Hi @monty, 

Yes, you can achieve this by using the same actions and policies but selecting Download Only instead of Download and Install. 

This will download the updates and users can install them whenever it’s convenient for them.

Great! After downloading, where can users find the updates to install them? 

Users can access the downloaded updates and initiate installation from: 

• System Preferences > Software Update (for macOS versions before macOS Ventura), or 
• System Settings > General > Software Update (for macOS Ventura and later).
