Hey guys, we really wanna find a way to display custom messages on the apple tvs we have in our conference rooms. All we want is to configure something sort of a custom welcome message when the device has internet connectivity and it should display that message even when the tv is offline…If anyone got any ideas pls help out!

Hello @mikaela, Thanks for reaching out to us!

You can display custom messages on your Apple TV with the Conference Room Display Mode. Moreover, it allows users to easily share the screen of AirPlay supported devices without granting access to any other function of AppleTV.

Firstly, navigate to Policies and create a New Policy. Now under Apple TV, you can configure Conference Room Display. Next, type in the Message you would like to have displayed on your TV. Finally, associate the policy to target devices and Save the policy.

For example, if you’ve typed in the message “Welcome to ABC Conference”, your Apple TV screen would look like below once the configured policy is applied to the device.

Please note that the feature is supported only on supervised tvOS 10.2+ devices.

Hope this answer suits your requirements.

Cheers!

Great to see you again @mikaela!

To answer your query, you must remove the associated policy from the device and restart it to exit from the conference room display mode.

Let me guide you through the process. First, in the Hexnode portal, navigate to the Manage tab and click on the device you wish to exit the conference room display mode. Next, select the Policies subtab and click on the trash icon next to the associated policy. There you have it!

Should you need any further assistance, please do not hesitate to reach us!

Hey I was thinking maybe you could lockdown ur tv into single app kiosk mode and have an app that displays just the custom message?

Hey @thom, that’s a great suggestion!

@mikaela You could try this out method as well. To lock down your devices into single app kiosk mode:

Initially, navigate to Policies and create a New Policy. Now select Kiosk Lockdown. Under Apple TV Kiosk Lockdown, you can configure Single App. Here you may add an app that can be used to display a custom message of your choice.

Although please keep in mind that you will have to exit from the kiosk mode if you intend to use the TV for any other purpose. To display the message again, you would have to apply the policy again.

Try out either method, and keep me posted on what worked well for you!
