Hi,
Our organisation has some Android 10 devices…there have been some patch updates from Android. But we are not sure about the stability of the new updates….
We need a way to test these updates on some of our Android phones before we update all of them…. what to do?

Hey @corbyn,

Thank you for reaching out!

You can prevent new OS updates from getting installed on your Android devices for up to 30 days after their release date using the Postpone Update option in Hexnode’s OS Updates feature. Admins can select this option from Policies > Android > OS updates.

As Google releases a new patch update, you can install the update on a few sample test devices which are not associated with any policies with the Postpone Update setting enabled. Use these devices to check the stability of the update.

If the update is stable, you can disassociate the policy and update the devices in bulk. You can also update them after the 30 days delay period.

Please note that your device must already be associated with an OS Updates policy during the release of an update to delay it. Also, keep in mind that this feature is supported only on devices enrolled in Android Enterprise as Device Owner.

Visit our Android OS updates guide to learn more.

Hopes this answers your query.

Cheers!
