Yes, there is a way you can convert unmanaged apps to managed apps on supervised iOS devices running 9.0 and later.

Here’s how you can go about doing it:

1. Select the required device from the Manage tab in the Hexnode portal.
2. Click on the Applications sub-tab from the device summary page.
3. Tap the gear icon next to the unmanaged app and click on the Manage App option.

The unmanaged apps will now be converted to managed apps and you’ll have more control over them.

Great! What would happen on the device end if the apps are made managed this way? Will it get re-installed?

Good question, @ryker. The app will not get re-installed on the device. In fact, the user won’t be able to notice anything on the device-end; the app will silently become managed when you click the Manage App option.

We also have a similar requirement but we have enrolled unsupervised ios devices. Is there any other solution?

For unsupervised iOS devices, unfortunately, the only option would be to uninstall the applications from the device-end and then push them from the Hexnode portal to make them managed.

In order to convert the unmanaged apps to managed apps from the portal, you will have to re-enroll the devices in the supervised mode, and then follow the steps described above.
