Can I get a Custom Shape for a Geofence?Solved

Hey all!

Our organization has a strict no-cameras policy within the building. We typically enroll a Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) policy for every device that enters the premises and apply camera restrictions during device configuration using geofencing. However, our building is not a standard rectangular shape, and there are still a few corners that the geofence cannot cover, resulting in devices easily lifting off the restrictions in those areas.

Additionally, having an extra area under geofencing is also problematic as our building has an attached cafe where our staff goes for breaks, and they are still unable to lift off the restrictions. We have currently put the geofencing policy on hold. It would be greatly beneficial if Hexnode were to support a custom shape for geofencing, as having a rectangle as the only shape is not helping our purpose.

Hello @Laodice, Thanks for reaching out to us.

Hexnode has recently introduced support for two new custom shapes, in addition to the rectangle, for creating geofences. The available options are:

  • Rectangle
  • Circle
  • Polygon

Based on your needs, you can create a polygonal geofence with a maximum of 15 corners to cover the area with greater precision.

For more detailed information, please refer to our help documentation on geofencing.

Please feel free to reach out to us if you need any further assistance.

Regards,

George
