Hey, I’m trying to stop messages from backing up to iCloud on some iPhones. They’re ABM-managed and ADE-enrolled. Any ideas?
Block iMessage backup to iCloudSolved

Any luck there? I have been looking for a way to do the same on Macs.
Apple does not currently offer a direct way to block iMessage backups specifically through Apple Business Manager (ABM) or Automated Device Enrollment (ADE). You can however manage iCloud backups and iMessage syncing with a few settings tweaks.
On iOS, go to Settings > [Your Apple ID] > iCloud, tap See All under Apps Using iCloud, select Messages, and turn off Use on this iPhone to stop iMessage from syncing.
On macOS, open Messages, go to Messages > Settings (or Preferences on older macOS versions), click the iMessage tab, and uncheck Enable Messages in iCloud.
Does that mean the backup doesn’t include messages?
Not exactly. When Messages in iCloud is turned off, iMessage data is no longer synced across devices but will still be included in iCloud Backup. If you want to prevent messages from being backed up entirely, you’ll need to disable iCloud Backup for the device.
Okay, is there anything in Hexnode that might help?
For iOS devices enrolled in Hexnode, you can use the Basic Restrictions policy in iOS. Disabling Allow iCloud Settings > Backup under Basic Restrictions will block all forms of iCloud backup, including messages. For macOS, you can try creating a configuration profile that might help in disabling iCloud backup on Mac.
That makes sense. Thanks for the suggestions! I’ll test it out and update if I run into anything.
