Block Apple ID settingsSolved

Hi everyone, we have distributed company-owned iPhones to few of our employees. Recently we found that some employees have signed in their personal Apple IDs to these devices and are using them for personal purposes. Is there any way to prevent them from using their Apple IDs on our devices?

Hi @eduardo , in Hexnode UEM there is a restriction, Modify an account. It is enabled by default but if you disable it, you can prevent your employees from adding their Apple IDs to the device. I also came across a forum discussion that outlines the steps for the same https://www.hexnode.com/forums/topic/prevent-users-from-adding-apple-id-on-iphone/#:~:text=Hexnode%20lets%20you%20restrict%20employees,to%20get%20the%20job%20done.

Thank you, @cullen ! I tried applying this restriction, but users are still able to add Apple IDs to the devices. Any idea why this might be happening?

Hi @eduardo . Thanks for reaching out to us. The Modify an account restriction works only on Supervised iOS 7.0+ devices. iOS devices can be supervised by enrolling them through Apple Configurator or the Device Enrollment Program (DEP) . Ensure that the devices are enrolled using any of these two methods and then give the restriction a try.

If an Apple ID is already configured on the device and Modify an account restriction is applied, would it still be possible to modify the existing account?

Hi @aurora . Thanks for reaching out to us. No, you can’t modify the existing account when the Modify an account restriction is applied to the device.
It will grey out the device’s Apple account settings option completely.

Apple account settings greyed out when Modify an account restriction is applied.

Let us know if there’s anything else you’d like to know!
