BitLocker is a Windows security feature that encrypts entire volumes, with the BitLocker recovery key serving as a unique 48-digit numerical password that can be used to unlock the system. With Hexnode UEM’s BitLocker policy, configurating the various settings associated with BitLocker was already simple, but we didn’t stop there. We’re excited to announce the addition of a new option to the policy – Recovery Password Rotation.

The Recovery Password Rotation option, when enabled, facilitates the automatic renewal of the BitLocker recovery key after it has been used to unlock the drive. Rotating the recovery key offers obvious advantages, enhancing security and mitigating risks. Additionally, it provides IT admins with the option to set it as a compliance criterion within the organization for their managed devices.
