Currently not possible to add mandatory applications from MS Store, e.g. Office and Teams apps.

At least its not apparent how to achieve this, as search yields nothing.

Hey, @pavel-smirnov. Thank you for reaching out to us.

I’m assuming your query is with regards to Windows devices. Hexnode does support the installation of Microsoft Store apps, including Office via the Mandatory Apps policy or the Install Application remote action. However, there is a slight workaround you need to follow in order to install Microsoft Teams app on your Windows devices which is explained later in this solution.

To install a Microsoft Store app as a mandatory app:

  1. Go to the Policies tab in the portal and create a new policy.
  2. Navigate to Windows > Mandatory Apps and tap Configure.
  3. Click on the +Add icon and choose Add App option.
  4. Select Public Store from the window that pops up to install apps directly from the Microsoft Store. Search and select the required apps and click Done.
  5. Navigate to Policy Targets to associate the policy with the required Windows devices.

Since Microsoft Teams is not available for download from the MS store, you need to deploy it via the Enterprise app distribution method. Microsoft has provided MSI package files (32-bit and 64-bit) to install Microsoft Teams application on your Windows endpoints.

To deploy MSI apps as mandatory apps from the portal, initially you must add the app to the Hexnode app inventory. Once the app is added to Hexnode’s app repository, it can be pushed to the devices using the Mandatory Apps policy.

  1. Go to the Policies tab in the portal and create a new policy.
  2. Navigate to Windows > Mandatory Apps and tap Configure.
  3. Click on the +Add icon and choose Add App option.
  4. Select Local Apps from the window that pops up to install apps from the app repository. Search and select the previously added Microsoft Teams from the list of apps and click Done.
  5. Navigate to Policy Targets to associate the policy with the required Windows devices.

Hope this helps. Do reach out if you’ve any further queries.

Have a great day!
