While creating a user account, we provide a password. Can the user change the password to that of their choice when they login for the first time? In Windows I can see the option “User must change password at next login” but not in Mac. How does it work in mac?
Hi, Can someone help me understand how to use wildcards while creating local user accounts in Hexnode?
Hi, I need to fully control OS updates across devices in our organization (Windows, macOS, and Android). These devices are everywhere, remote users, office setups, people traveling. I don’t want users deciding when to update or skipping it. What’s the best way to handle this?
We've expanded the Hexnode API with robust file management capabilities, offering more flexibility in deploying and removing files across your endpoints. What's new? The API now supports the following enhancements: Deploy file – Enables you to send files to a specific destination path on targeted devices, users, device groups, or user groups. Remove file –…
We are excited to announce a major enhancement for IT administrators managing Apple fleets. The introduction of the macOS Remote Access policy is designed to streamline remote troubleshooting and eliminate authorization hurdles when supporting your macOS users. Here is a breakdown of the new capabilities you can now push to your devices: Enable unattended remote access: Do you need to troubleshoot…
What’s new Hexnode Access now lets you fall back to local login when Hexnode Access authentication isn’t available. We’ve introduced the Fallback to Local Login option within Hexnode Access for both macOS and Windows platforms. This ensures that if cloud authentication is unavailable, users aren't left stranded at the login screen. Why it’s useful Identity providers and networks aren't infallible. Whether it’s a service outage or a "dead zone" in the field, authentication hurdles shouldn't result in…
Hi everyone, I ran into a strange issue with a couple of our macOS devices (IDs 43 & 110). They were not syncing properly with Hexnode, which caused a few problems on our end. For example, we couldn’t elevate admin access through the self-service portal. The only action that seemed to work was the Scan Device command. However, actions like running custom scripts…
Hi, I tried using Migration Assistant on my Mac to move data to a new device, but I kept running into device unlocking issues during the process. It’s like the MDM restrictions are still in place. Both Macs are on the latest macOS version, and I even removed all policies from the source device in…
Hello everyone, I’m looking for the best way to move a managed account from one Mac to another. The user’s current Mac is broken, so we’re setting them up with a replacement. Both Macs are already enrolled in Hexnode, and instead of manually copying files and settings, I’m planning to use Apple’s Migration Assistant to transfer the user account, apps, and data…
The Hexnode Store has a lot of great Apps like Libre Office for MacOS. I would to be able to install Hexnode Store Apps automatically via Policy. Also I would like to be able to add Hexnode Store Apps to the App Catalog so Users can Install these Apps on their own using Hexnode on…
To enforce a strong password policy only for standard local user accounts, while excluding administrator accounts from the same policy enforcement.
Hello Hexnode Team, It's been a pleasure to be Hexnode customer and I'm currently using Hexnode on a daily basis to manage our MacOS devices in our environment. I have been noticed that Microsoft has released a preview of platform SSO on MacOS for Intune & EntraID. I was wondering if Hexnode is having a…
Hello, It would be nice to have a policy to limit the number of registered devices for users. For example, I would only like to limit 1 macbook per user. This way the user is not able to register another device until we remove them as owner of their current device.
My company requires Office Macros are disabled. For Winodws and MacOS, this is not a built in setting in Hexnode policies. I cannot find any Powershell scripts or batch files to run and enable this setting. Can this be built in?
We use tools to allow local user to promote to admin for a short period of time (1h), they must provide reason and this action is sent to our SIEM for monitoring. We use : Privilege (https://github.com/SAP/macOS-enterprise-privileges) for macOS MakeMeAdmin (https://github.com/pseymour/MakeMeAdmin) for Windows Now that you added local users management on Hexnode, offering a similar…
Hello Hexnode peoples, We are hoping to get a feature request placed to have the ability to use custom scripts within policies to force the installation and configuration of applications. Our use cases revolve around the need to be able to force software for security and other tools be installed on all existing, and new…
I am interested in limiting file access to certain applications, for example a video file that can only be accessed by Adobe/etc, to limit the file from being copied, uploaded anywhere else.
The system is missing support for showing the computer name, hostname, and IP address. We would like it added to the “Device Info” tab. It would also be nice if we could revert a friendly name back to the actual computer name.So that it once again follows the user's changes to the name.
I have been a long-time user of Microsoft LAPS and would like to have similar functionality in Hexnode across different operating systems. Local Administrator Password Solution (LAPS) is a function that prevents using the same administrative passwords across different endpoints/devices. It regularly changes the passwords and enables management software to retrieve the correct password for…
