If I turn off location check. Can you still request a manual location check on demand?

Hey, Thanks for reaching out to us.

For Hexnode to perform location tracking on the devices, the location services must be turned ON.
If you try to track the location of a device on which the location service is not turned ON, the action will fail.

In the case of Android devices, Hexnode can enforce the location services on Samsung Knox, LG GATE and Kyocera business phones: To enforce the location services:

  1. Navigate to Policies-> Android-> Restrictions-> Allow Developer Options.
  2. Enable the options ‘GPS’ and ‘Force GPS to fetch location’.
  3. Associate targets and save the policy.

The location services will now be enabled on the device and you will be able to track its location.

Cheers!

Also, is there a report that tells me when each device last reported?

Thanks for the reply.

Yes, there is. You can get a report on the location history of all the enrolled devices on which location tracking was configured. To get the report:

  • Navigate to Reports-> Location Reports-> Location History.
  • The list of devices with the last reported time of each device will be displayed.
  • The report can be exported as a PDF/CSV file by clicking on the Export button at the top.

You can also export the location tracking data of a particular device:

  • Navigate to Manage-> Devices and click on the device name. You will be directed to the Device
  • Go to Location History and click on the Download button that you see at the top right corner of the Location History section.

Cheers!
