Hey, Thanks for reaching out to us.
You will have to create an APNs certificate for enrolling Apple devices. For communicating with the device, the MDM will send a notification to the APNs server and the server will then communicate with the device. Hence, the APNs certificate is essential.
For creating an APNs certificate:
- Login to the portal and navigate to Admin-> APNs.
- Click on Configure APNs Certificate.
- Click on Generate CSR for downloading the self-signed certificate from Hexnode.
- Log in to the Apple Push Certificate Portal with your Apple ID and click on Create a Certificate.
- Upload the self-signed certificate and download the APNs certificate that Apple generates.
- Upload the APNs certificate to the Hexnode portal. You will now have the certificate details displayed under Admin-> APNs.
Kindly use the help doc on APNs certificate creation for more info.

I was trying to add APNs certificate as mentioned above. But I got the following error from Apple Push Certificates Portal.
“To get a new certificate for a OS X server, use your OS X server administration tools.”
Hey, Thanks for reaching out to us.
The probable cause for this error is that the Hexnode link goes to https://identity.apple.com/pweb/ which should go to https://identity.apple.com/pushcert/. This may also happen due to an incorrectly terminated session.
To solve this:
- Try to clear the cache of your browser and access the Apple Push Certificates Portal directly at https://identity.apple.com/pushcert/
- Try to log out from the Apple Push Certificates Portal:
1.Login with a different Apple ID.
2.Log out and sign in back with the first Apple ID. - Try to open https://identity.apple.com/pushcert/ in a private browser window and upload the Certificate Signing Request (CSR).
Please check out our troubleshooting doc on configuring the APNs certificate for more help.
Cheers!
