Wipe device without erasing eSIMSolved

Hi,

We manage a fleet of iPhones for our remote employees to keep them connected on the go. Lately, some users have reported device performance issues that might require a full device reset to resolve. The problem is, a factory reset typically wipes everything—including the eSIM, that will cause service disruptions and delays in getting them reconnected. That’s something we are hoping to avoid, especially since employees depend on their devices while traveling or working remotely.

Is there a way to wipe these devices while keeping the eSIM configuration intact?

Hey, you can follow these steps to factory reset your eSIM-compatible iPhone: Navigate to Settings > General > Reset > Erase All Content and Settings > Erase iPhone > Erase All and Keep Mobile Plans. Check it out!

Thank you @raelynn! However, I have too many devices to handle this manually. Any other options?

Hi @sybylla, welcome to Hexnode Connect!

Yes, it is possible to wipe your iOS device while retaining eSIM configuration. Here’s how to do so:

  1. On your Hexnode UEM console, navigate to the Manage tab.
  2. Select your device(s) from the list of devices and click on Actions.
  3. Choose Wipe Device action from the Actions dropdown list.
  4. Check the Retain eSIM Configuration option and click on Wipe.
  5. Wipe device action for iOS devices via Hexnode UEM console.

The device will be wiped while retaining eSIM configuration. This is applicable only for iOS devices running 11.0 and above.

For more information, check out our help document on Wipe Device action.
