Hey everyone, does anyone know how to set up a Hotspot on an Android device in Kiosk mode? I’m looking to lock down the device and restrict access while allowing it to share the internet. Any tips or guides would be awesome!

Hello @Luke

To enable or disable the Wi-Fi Hotspot, you can use a kiosk item script:// to execute an on-device script file with the following commands:

  • wifiapenable 1 to enable the Hotspot

  • wifiapenable 0 to disable the Hotspot

Hi @Amelia  Thanks for responding It appears that this command only toggles the Wi-Fi on and off on the device, rather than directly enabling or disabling the Hotspot.

Hey! @Luke , thanks for posting on Hexnode Connect.

You can easily configure a Wi-Fi hotspot on Android devices locked in kiosk mode. To do this, navigate to Peripheral Settings in the Hexnode UEM console under Policies > Kiosk Lockdown > Android Kiosk Lockdown, and enable the Wi-Fi Hotspot option. If you also want to allow users to configure the Wi-Fi hotspot, enable the Users can configure Wi-Fi hotspot option.

Feel free to reach out if you have any further questions or need clarifications.
