Hi everyone,

I’m currently setting up Android Tablets in Kiosk mode for a shared workspace environment. These tablets will be used by different employees across shifts, and Outlook needs to be available for email access. The challenge is ensuring that once a user finishes their shift, they are automatically signed out of Outlook, so the device is ready for the next user.

Does anyone know if this is possible, or if there’s a workaround to implement automatic sign-out for Outlook in this setup?

While the outlook app doesn’t natively support automatic sign-out after a shift, you could consider using Shared Device Mode (SDM) as a potential solution. This feature allows multiple users to securely share the same device, with each user logging in with their own credentials.

With SDM, after a user finishes their shift, they can easily sign out, ensuring that their session is ended, and the device is ready for the next user.

Shared Device Mode enables employees to securely sign in at the start of their shift. They only need to log in once to access all SDM-supported apps, like Outlook, with single sign-on (SSO) ensuring they don’t need to re-enter credentials for each app. 

At the end of the shift, they can log out with a simple action, which will sign them out of all apps, clear any cached data, and ensure the device is ready for the next user. This feature is ideal for shared devices in a multi-user environment, ensuring both security and convenience across shifts.

Typically, Shared Device Mode is enabled through a mdm system, which simplifies setup and management.
