App permission management possibilities on Android in BYODSolved

Hi! I want to use hexnode to streamline user onboarding for an Android app that my staff use. The app will be deployed in Work Profile in BYOD mode.

I was able to successfully deploy the app from Google Play into the Work Profile and was able to configure:

to be granted automatically without the user input via policy.

My app also needs Package Usage Stats, Accessibility API, Device Admin, Overlay. Can these permissions be configured to be granted automatically with hexnode?

Is this even possible with BYOD devices?

Hey @fnmcr1! When setting up the App Permissions policy in Hexnode, you’ll see a list of permissions that can be granted automatically. These app permissions are specific to each app and are set by the application developer. So unfortunately, if the specific permissions you need for your app aren’t listed, they can’t be granted via Hexnode UEM.

Some permissions, especially those related to sensitive device features, require user consent and can’t be automatically granted through policies in BYOD mode. The permissions you mentioned, like Package Usage Stats, Accessibility API, Device Admin, and Overlay, fall under this category. For BYOD, permissions like those will need to be manually granted on the device itself.

Hope that helps! If you’d like, you can share your app details with us, and we can take a closer look and get back to you with more specifics.
