Does anyone know if it will be possible to disable RCS messaging on iOS 18 devices when it launches in a few weeks?

Since enabling and disabling RCS messaging is available in the iOS 18 beta version, Apple ought to offer management options for it when iOS 18 is officially launched. We’ll have to wait and see to know for sure, though.

@yuudai Can we expect to manage these settings through any MDM? Has Apple released any statements regarding this? Any thoughts?

Hey @mo-chou ,

In WWDC24, Apple announced new device management options, including Automated Device Enrollment for Apple Vision Pro and improved Managed Apple Accounts setup. Safari extensions can now be managed across iOS, iPadOS, and macOS, with visionOS 2.0 offering expanded capabilities.

For iOS/iPadOS 18, the details mostly concerned new controls for app locking and hiding, as well as Stolen Device Protection. However, I did not notice any mention of managing RCS messaging through an MDM. I think that after the release of new iPhones later this fall, we may see options to manage RCS messages through an MDM. It is generally observed that Apple releases most of its MDM payloads with newer OS versions during their stable release. As new features are introduced, management options are also released. So, we might have to wait for that, the release is just a few days away.
