Some of our employees are working onsite with clients and they are reporting that their macOS devices are unable to access any work-related data and certain applications won’t open. Can you help identify the probable issues and how to resolve them using Hexnode UEM?

Hello @reggie ,

Thanks for reaching out. It sounds like there might be network restrictions on the client’s network that are blocking access to certain applications and data. Can you confirm which type of network the employee is connected to?

They are connected to the client’s network, and they cannot connect to a public network. due to organizational policies.

Thanks for the confirmation, @reggie . Since there are no other network options besides the client’s, you can configure a VPN for the employees to access the data. Here’s how you can do this using Hexnode’s VPN policy for macOS devices:

  1. Login to your Hexnode UEM portal.
  2. Navigate to Policies > New Policy. Assign a suitable name and description (optional) for the policy.
  3. Go to macOS > Network > VPN. Click Configure.

You can refer to our How to configure VPN on macOS devices?
help documentation for more information.

Thanks for the information. We configured the policy, but something’s not right, is there a way I can troubleshoot remotely since it’s impossible for us to physically get access to the devices at the moment?

If the VPN configuration requires adjustments on the device, you can use Hexnode’s Remote View to assist them. Follow the steps below to configure the resolve the issue with Hexnode’s Remote View:

  1. Login to your Hexnode UEM portal.
  2. Navigate to the Manage tab and select your macOS device from the Devices list.
  3. Find the Remote View widget under the Device Summary sub-tab.

To remotely control the device,

  1. In the Remote View widget, ensure that there is already an ongoing remote view session.
  2. Click on Request Control.

For more information, please refer – How to enable Remote View and Remote Control for macOS devices.

Please let us know if this resolves your issue or if you need further assistance.
