Hi all, we have to update the os of all Android devices in the organization. In order to prevent bandwidth issues, we intend to update the devices during non-work hours. Will the end-user be able to update the OS themself if I schedule update on the devices using Hexnode?

Hi @Udolf,

Thanks for reaching out to us.

Yes, the end users will be able to manually initiate the OS update if you have set the System Settings to Update during inactive hours while configuring the Scheduled OS Updates policy.

The policy configuration aids in updating OS during inactive hours. Thus, to prevent bandwidth choking, you can set a time period during which the OS need to be updated.

Please note that this feature only works on devices enrolled in Android Enterprise as Device Owner.

Hope this helps.

Cheers!

Hey, before updating the OS, we need to ensure that the enterprise apps are working correctly on the Android devices with the new OS update. Hence, we’d prefer to delay OS updates for a while. Does the option to postpone update in the scheduled OS update policy block employees from manually updating the OS, or does it only prevent automatic updates?

Hi @Kent0n,

Thanks for reaching out to us.

Configuring the Scheduled OS Updates policy with the Postpone update option will restrict your employees from manually updating the devices for 30 days. If employees try to update the OS during this period, a prompt will display on the devices saying that the organization controls the software updates.

Hope this clarifies your query.

Thanks
