Hi, we have been using android devices (device owner) in the company. And, the devices are restricted to work use only. Now, we intend to loosen the restrictions on some of these devices and allow staffs to use them for checking personal mail, taking photos, and so on. Hence, we need to change these devices to profile owner. please provide steps to do this.

Hi @drian,
Thanks for reaching out to us.
Could you please provide details about the devices and how you enrolled them as device owner?
Thanks!

Please create a backup of all necessary data before proceeding because you will need to factory reset the devices. You can change the device management from device owner to profile owner by following the steps below.
- Perform a wipe action from the Hexnode portal to reset the devices to their factory settings by navigating to Manage > Devices > Actions. If Factory Reset Protection is enabled on the devices, check the ‘Clear Factory Reset Protection‘ option to disable it.
- Then, complete the initial device set up and download the Hexnode For Work app from Play Store.
- Open the app, enter your portal name or scan the QR code on the Hexnode portal, and follow the on-screen instructions.
- After enrollment, an extra Hexnode For Work app with a badge will be created. Remove the Hexnode For Work app without the badge by clicking Uninstall after opening the app.
Check out our help doc on enrolling devices in Android Enterprise as profile owner to know more.
Hope this answers your query.
Cheers!
