Nick Shevelyov started his career in technology, but pivoted to focus on technology risk management having roles at both a boutique security technology consulting firm and at Deloitte as part of the Enterprise Risk Services Group. During his years at Deloitte he led cyber security and data privacy projects for some of the largest technology and financial services firms in the world. In 2007, he became the first Chief Security and Privacy Officer for Silicon Valley Bank. Over the next 15 years, Nick helped build a global Cyber Security and Data Privacy program supporting the fastest growing bank in the United States.
In 2018 he stepped into the Chief Information Officer role to help start a digital transformation adopting data centric practices as a discipline, cloud and mobile first technology adoption and agile software delivery practices to help SVB transform into a modern technology company offering financial services to innovators and entrepreneurs globally. From 2020 to 2022 he returned to cyber security leadership responsibilities as Chief Information Security Officer, wrapping up his SVB career in May of 2022. He is the author of “Cyber War…and Peace: Building Digital Trust with History as our Guide” and is advising startups.
