Archos is a French electronics manufacturing company founded in 1988. They manufacture a variety of products ranging from smartphones and tablets to storage devices and laptops.

Recently, Archos acquired a company, Logic Instrument, and launched another, Medical Devices Venture. And this acquisition has broadened the scope of the device types Archos specializes in. While Archos mainly focuses on manufacturing smart devices that simplify daily life, Logic Instrument manufactures hardcore rugged devices, and Medical Devices Venture manufactures high-quality medical devices.

Explore Hexnode’s rugged device management capabilities
Archos’ Logic Instrument devices are absolutely remarkable in terms of their applications, particularly in critical enterprises. But, before we get to the industrial applications, let’s have a look at what Archos/Logic Instrument rugged devices have to offer.

Why should you consider Archos rugged devices?

Well for starters, there are a lot of devices available under Archos’ arsenal. From tablets and smartphones to laptops and server hosting devices, Archos has a lot of devices in the rugged device market under the brand, Logic Instrument, which is a company acquired by Archos, like I mentioned earlier. Apart from rugged devices, there are smart homes and medical appliances in Archos’ arsenal.

Archos has both Android and Windows devices which give enterprises the option to choose what is best for them. This choice might not seem like a huge thing straight away, but when it comes to critical enterprises, the choice of OS makes a big difference in how the enterprises run smoothly. Windows and Android are two of the best operating systems out there, the first one being used in both tablets and laptops and the latter one in smartphones and tablets.

Another upside to Archos devices is that all the rugged devices offered by their child company Logic Instrument, have an IP rating of IP50 or above. This is considered to be a high rating for smart devices. Also, most of these devices are MIL-STD certified too. So, in terms of ruggedness the devices are the crème de la crème.

As if this wasn’t enough, Archos’ Logic Instrument has a special lineup of Military grade devices. These devices are made for the harshest of the harshest conditions if there is such a thing.

What are critical enterprises?

By now you must be wondering what is meant by critical enterprises. Any enterprise, where time is of the essence can be called a critical enterprise, technically. But won’t that include every industry under the Sun? Yes, and no. Ok to give you a bit more clarity, I can give you a few examples of critical industries. First responders and emergency services come under the category of critical enterprise since even a second’s delay can be catastrophic. Similarly, warehouses and logistics teams can be considered a critical enterprise, since the delay in a shipment can cause huge problems for the company. Likewise, any enterprise where a slight variation in timings or the mode of operation can cause a huge butterfly effect can be considered a critical enterprise.

Industry applications of Archos rugged devices

Before the proper industry applications, if you are a tech enthusiast and would like to make your home a smart home, Archos has the perfect line of devices for smart home management. Just saying 😄.

Okay now let’s move to the proper industry applications. Archos’ rugged device line, Logic Instrument is suitable for any frontline industry, literally. From the healthcare industry to other emergency services, Archos devices can be a perfect fit since they have a lot of compact but durable devices. Also, the devices are built in such a way that they can be paired with other tools like medical and imaging tools.

Apart from that, heavy-duty industries like mining companies and the armed forces can use Archos devices since they offer strong, sturdy, and well-built military-grade devices. Oh, and yes, these devices offer advanced connectivity options, so they can be used in remote places.

The Archos smart device range which comes under the smart home management area is perfect for hospitality management since it looks elegant and offers everything a normal smart device can offer and more.

Archos devices are perfect for warehouses and retail shops since it is easy to couple Archos devices with other tools such as barcode scanners, printers, and so on. Medical Devices Venture is a company owned by Archos that manufactures medical devices and invests in tech for the medical industry.

Mastering Archos devices: Unleashing their potential in any industry

Irrespective of the industry in which you are using Archos devices, you need a good device management strategy to get the most out of the devices. Without a proper device management tool everything can turn into chaos in moments. In such a scenario, employees will have access to powerful tools without any limitations. You won’t be able to control what people do using the devices.

I am not going to detail why a management solution is essential for deploying rugged devices in your organization because the reasons stated above should do the trick, don’t you think?

UEM solutions help you manage all kinds of devices (endpoints), ranging from smartphones and tablets to PCs and laptops. That covers pretty much every device Archos has to offer.

With a UEM, the IT team will be in complete control over all the enterprise devices. From management and configuration to monitoring and troubleshooting, almost everything is possible with a UEM. And what better UEM to manage your Archos devices than Hexnode UEM? We can see more of Hexnode’s powers in the next section, shall we?

Hexnode UEM Rugged Device Management

Rugged devices are most useful in harsh and remote environments, unlike everyday use devices, they are built for particular purposes. So, it is important that a management suite catering to their specific needs is used.

How can Hexnode help you manage Archos rugged devices?

As we said Hexnode is a UEM solution that can manage smartphones, tablets, PCs, and laptops. Hexnode also supports multiple operating systems, this includes Android and Windows, both the operating systems offered by Archos devices. Just like with any other device management, Archos device management also starts with enrolling your devices in the Hexnode management portal. And Hexnode offers multiple options to enroll or onboard your Archos devices (both Windows and Android devices).

Once you enroll your devices, Hexnode allows you to do a lot in terms of device management. From configuring device settings and networks to mandating strong passwords and other security standards, Hexnode helps you take care of every aspect of device management. Apart from that, Hexnode also lets you lock down devices into single or multi-app modes so that employees can’t use the devices for anything other than work. This is a good way to boost productivity and secure devices even more. You can go a bit further and block or limit web access by blacklisting or whitelisting websites. You can do the same with apps.

There are bonuses for both Android and Windows device management:

OEMConfig for Android devices

The OEM vendor creates OEMConfig as a special app that enables management features for configuring settings that are typically inaccessible without the OEMConfig. Hexnode supports Archos’ OEMConfig app. Click here to know more about Archos management using Hexnode.

Custom script execution for Windows devices

IT admins are usually really familiar with scripts as they are an inevitable part of Windows management. So, describing what scripting is might bore you. But if you want to know more about Windows scripting, click here. Ok, so with Hexnode, you can remotely run scripts on enrolled devices. Click here to learn more about how to execute custom scripts using Hexnode.

Woah, that’s all you need to manage your Archos device fleet from top to bottom.

Wrapping up

That was indeed a lot of information. But now you know why Archos devices are a perfect addition for critical enterprises and why a proper UEM solution is essential to use Archos devices to their full potential. We also saw why Archos devices in combination with Hexnode can get the most out of these rugged devices and make critical enterprises work much smoother. Well, that’s all for the day, see you guys next time, ciao.
